Education : Health and Safety in Science Teaching

When the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH) first came out in 1988, the requirement to assess the use of all such materials applied to every business. The Education sector currently has very well defined systems covering the use of chemicals and the production of gases etc. Many substances have been banned or removed from the curriculum over the years, not always through Health and Safety regulation, but as often as not by instruction from the DFeS or its forerunners.
